“Story in a Moment”
My love for stories is what originally drew me to filmmaking. Through film I explore how lighting, colour and framing can be used as powerful visual tools to enhance and drive the story being told. These tools work together to bring out emotions and render insignificant gestures into moments of importance.
In my paintings I draw on those same tools to showcase the uniqueness of moments I have witnessed. I always stay true to the settings of each subject so as to represent who they are and to emphasize the beauty and awe I have felt from a single moment.
Each individual I have painted; I have met and interacted with. This series explores the idea that just like watching a film based on a true story, the viewer may read a little about the subject and find himself connecting at a deeper level with the art and the moments portrayed.
